We often miss calls on a daily basis. It’s not our fault. Sometimes we don’t want our phones to start ringing in the middle of a meeting or a social gathering. It’s always distracting to see those eyes rolling around us. So, we need a solution once in a while to actually get notified without drawing eyes or ears (literally).

So, iPhone has a solution that’s sort of gets this done. It’s the LED flash flashing whenever you receive a notification or a call. This can be really helpful when you don’t want to miss a message or call when your smartphone is locked or silent.

So, how do we use this feature?

How to Get Flash Alerts on iPhone ?

  1. Open Settings App on your iPhone. I’m sure you can find it somehow.

  2. Tap Accessibility from the list. The option used to be under General. Now Accessibility is a menu.

  3. Swipe down until you see the HEARING section. Select the Audio/Visual option from the Hearing section.

  4. Under Audio/Visual, Look for the Visual section. It’s probably the last option. Since I haven’t enabled this option, you will see only one option. you need to enable to see the second option.

  5. Enable the LED Flash for Alerts. Once you do that, you will see the second option called Flash on Silent show up. By default, this is enabled because it’s meant for that purpose. So, if you want to flash even when it’s not on silent mode, you could disable it if you please so.

One thing you need to realize is that this feature was originally intended for those who have hardship hearing and these visual flash alerts could be extremely helpful in different situations.

I can promise you majority of the people who use this feature have no trouble hearing at all. Its a feature that a lot of people use. Its mainly helpful when you get calls. If you are someone who doesn’t get so many calls, this isn’t probably for you. Also, its a old person feature, let’s be honest.
